\"miracle\"During the Comenius LLP \u2013 Training Course on Civic Cross-Cultural Competencies for Elementary School Teachers held from the 16th \u2013 21st October 2011 in Berlin, Germany the MIRACLE Consortium presented the Manual for Pupils and Teachers.<\/p>\n

On one side, the concrete aims of this multilateral Comenius project are to develop and provide for a teacher training course, which is focused on cultivating the political-intercultural competences of teachers in Europes\u2019 elementary schools. On the other hand, it aims at developing and distributing teaching materials for elementary school pupils at various levels, which are centered around the subjects of human flight, migration, social justice and interculturality.<\/p>\n

This teacher training course manual contains some of the teaching and learning units for 5 \u2013 14 year old pupils. Besides these teaching units for pupils, the MIRACLE consortium has developed modules for the political-intercultural training of elementary teachers.<\/p>\n

For a broad understanding, it is necessary to focus on political implications such as migrational policies in the EU, so that the institutional power structures can be highlighted. To avoid a legal simplification of cultural attributes, the social asymmetry between the majority group and the social minorities is taken into consideration. In the context of migrational policies, the minority groups consist of immigrants from non EU countries, refugees and people seeking asylum. Leaving this perspective aside, it easily comes to simplified cultural attributions, while the social, economical and legal differences are often simply faded out. These differences play out in the long run, especially when defining and discussing integrational goals.<\/p>\n

The units were developed according to the results of a comprehensive needs analysis. Prior to this manual, teachers and educational experts in five countries were asked their opinion about necessary student materials, as well as about subjects for the teacher training course. Both topics are closely related to the key terms of migration and cultural diversity.<\/p>\n

The Manual has been produced in several languages: English, German, Hungarian, Slovene, Italian.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
