On March 19 and 20 was held in Palermo the second meeting of the Erasmus Multilateral Project \u201cAn approach to Qualifications through Negotiated Work Based Learning for the EU \u2013 WBLQUAL\u201d started by November 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, the five project partners (CESIE \u2013 IT, Staffordshire University \u2013 UK, Rigas Techniska Universitate \u2013 LV, Uniwesytet Lodzki \u2013 PL, Centre for Rural Research University of South Denmark, DK) shared and compared the main results from the activities foreseen for this phase of the project (research about employers\u2019 view of WBL), being coordinated by CESIE as work package leader. These activities have sought to understand: a) if and how this approach is recognized as a way to improve workers\u2019 skills; b) what are the needs of employers in relation to the technical\/professional skills of their workers and how these can be acquired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This research is only the first step of a broader process that will try to understand on one hand, how is the workers\u2019 view of WBL and, on the other the universities\u2019 attitude towards different training methods other than academic, such as WBL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The actual project idea is that only an active collaboration between these three actors (employers, workers and higher education institutes) will allow to develop training paths able to meet the needs of today\u2019s labor market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
