In a world where information travels fast, fostering critical thinking has become essential. The event <em>QYourself \u2013 Beyond Fake News<\/em> offered practical tools to help participants navigate the complex landscape of online disinformation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Held on 29 July 2025 at the EPYC in Palermo, the event was a space for dialogue and reflection on the role of disinformation in social dynamics \u2013 especially in digital contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It brought together young people interested in media, communication, and active citizenship, guided by two moderators from the partner organisations CESIE and CSC. The special guest of the event was <strong>Alessandro Lombardi<\/strong>, <strong>an expert in journalism and information<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The importance of reflecting on the impact of disinformation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a context where artificial intelligence and social media increasingly shape people\u2019s perception of reality, developing critical thinking skills is essential to take an active part in democratic life and to counter the spread of hate and disinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through an interactive presentation and discussions, participants explored:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the concept of media education, and the importance of <strong>providing young people and adults with the tools to understand how information is produced, shared, and manipulated<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>how fake news works<\/strong> \u2013 how it originates, why it spreads so quickly, and what effects it has on society and public debate;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>good journalistic practices<\/strong> <strong>to combat disinformation<\/strong>, and the need to promote a digital culture based on responsibility, fact-checking, and empathy online.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the event, the materials developed within the QYourself project were presented, along with other useful resources for those wishing to explore the topic further.
