How to promote inclusion and active citizenship among young people <\/strong>by increasing their knowledge and critical thinking skills on specific social issues?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PIVOT<\/a><\/strong> proposes many practical and outreach activities to be carried out with students. At the Liceo Scientifico Statale \"Ernesto Basile,\" for example, PIVOT workshops were held from October 2023 to June 2024: an educational experience that allowed participants to connect and discuss the project's central themes<\/strong>, such as the values and functioning of the European Union, gender equality, migration, and climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, fourteen teenagers took part in the meetings during the PCTO (Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e l\u2019Orientamento) hours in their school curriculum, being able to learn more about European values, what it means to be a citizen of the European Union, and what one can do as a citizen to aim for a better future.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the theme of migration,<\/strong> students had the opportunity to engage with a photographer who has been documenting the Balkan Route and Lampedusa for years, and a migrant who recounted his personal experience of the journey,<\/strong> undertaken across the desert and the Central Mediterranean. In addition to classroom activities, students had the opportunity to visit \"Giocherenda,\" an association founded and run by young people with a migratory background, which promotes the value of solidarity and the experience of sharing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two other closely related themes, climate change and gender equality, were addressed through non-formal activities such as games and debates.<\/strong> All of this allowed them to evaluate the European political programs of the main Italian parties and subsequently develop their proposals regarding the themes addressed during this experience. <\/strong>PIVOT aims to promote active citizenship among young people through its workshops on the EU, democracy, soft skills, and critical thinking.<\/strong> Another goal of the project is to facilitate dialogue between young citizens and candidates for the European elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
