Citizen science is unevenly spread across EU countries, and its approaches are not always easily identifiable by people who are not in the field. In spite of that, participatory science initiatives involving the public in research have proved to be very effective in motivating people\u2019s participation and in boosting their interest in science topics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why GEA<\/a><\/strong> project partners are currently working on the development of an open e-learning programme for adult educators<\/strong>, in order to empower them to boost community engagement for the environment.<\/strong> Building on the information collected in the GEA interactive report<\/a>, the programme will equip adult educators with the abilities needed to design their own environmental actions during the project duration and beyond. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adult educators will also learn how to guide learners in using digital tools and devices to carry out citizen science approaches<\/strong>, starting from those identified in the research phase. Moreover, they will strengthen their knowledge on how to enhance public understanding of scientific findings while conveying their benefits and consequences.<\/strong> To this aim, a specific part will be dedicated to media literacy, in order to equip adult educators with methods and tools to foster critical processing of information conveyed through social media among adult learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
