{"id":127208,"date":"2023-12-07T11:55:27","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T10:55:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?p=127208"},"modified":"2023-12-07T11:56:16","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T10:56:16","slug":"inin-education-strategies-school-dropout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/news\/inin-education-strategies-school-dropout\/","title":{"rendered":"Are you looking for useful strategies to counter migrant students&#8217; school dropout?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early school leaving refers to the situation in which <strong>young people leave formal education before completing secondary or equivalent education.<\/strong> It is a complex problem that can have serious consequences for individuals and society as a whole, particularly in societies where education is crucial for access to the labour market and social inclusion. <strong>Early school leaving is a persistent problem in Europe<\/strong>, where dropout rates vary widely. Some countries have managed to reduce the rate significantly, while others still face challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, the partnership of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/inin-education\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">In&amp;In Education<\/a><\/strong> project is working on the <strong>development of a set of resources for teachers and schools aimed at contrasting school dropout among young people with a migrant background<\/strong>, taking into account a number of conditions and variables that can exacerbate the critical problems of boys and girls living in a state of socio-economic deprivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the resources for teachers that is currently being worked on is the <strong>Training module for teachers on educational inclusion of students with migrant origin with an intersectional approach:<\/strong> on November 16 and 17, a meeting was held in Madrid between the organizations involved in the project, precisely to discuss the progress of the resources and to define the content to be included in the course, which will specifically consist of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A module that analyses <strong>the context<\/strong> of the 3 countries in the partnership (Italy, Spain and Greece) in terms of demographics, socio-economics and education systems, to explore the possible causes of early school leaving and the difference in terms of school performance between boys and girls who live in disadvantaged contexts and\/or have a migrant background;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The second module discusses <strong>the main measures that schools can take to improve educational outcomes and prevent school dropout,<\/strong> especially for students living in disadvantaged conditions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The third module will consist of a set of tools and suggestions for activities to be carried out in the classroom with students, with the aim of putting into practice some of the measures proposed in the previous modules, to make the classroom and schools more inclusive places, with a focus on students with migrant backgrounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next resources to be released soon will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A mapping<\/strong> to be shared with schools, teachers, students and families, with a series of resources active in the local contexts of each partner country, with reference to: \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The school context<\/strong> for educational and other needs;
