{"id":115922,"date":"2022-05-30T16:38:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T14:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?p=115922"},"modified":"2023-02-15T11:33:35","modified_gmt":"2023-02-15T10:33:35","slug":"inin-education-intersectional-approach-migrant-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/news\/inin-education-intersectional-approach-migrant-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Inclusive education through an intersectional approach: the launch of In&#038;In Education project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/inin-education\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">In&amp;In Educatio<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/inin-education\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><strong>n<\/strong><\/a> is a project that aims at <strong>promoting the educational inclusion of male and female students with a migrant background<\/strong> and to address their specific needs, in order to facilitate their educational success and social inclusion in the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>first partner meeting<\/strong> was held on the <strong>20<sup>th<\/sup> of May 2022<\/strong>: the consortium of organizations from three different countries (<strong>Spain, Greece and Italy<\/strong>) gathered online to discuss about the first steps to be taken for the launch of the project and about the expected results for the next 2 years, specifically:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The creation of an <\/strong><strong>Interactive<\/strong><strong> tool (mapping)<\/strong> on available <strong>local resources and good practices<\/strong> that favor the educational inclusion of girls and boys with migrant background, through an intersectional approach, <strong>focused on Madrid and Barcelona<\/strong> (Spain), <strong>Palermo<\/strong> (Italy) and <strong>Athens<\/strong> (Greece). The map will be developed in collaboration with local social sector NGOs, and will be shared among students, families and schools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The development of an Interactive<\/strong><strong> training module <\/strong>directed to teachers,about the educational inclusion of students with migrant background, through the intersectional approach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The production of a video <\/strong>with <strong>testimonies of women and men with migrant background<\/strong> and with professional and personal experience, that may serve as a reference\/role model for students. The video will be <strong>complemented with a guide for teachers<\/strong>, in order to use it as an educational resource that is empowering for students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main focus of the project is the <strong>intersectional approach<\/strong>, an analytical tool that recognizes that systemic inequalities are configured by the overlapping of different factors such as gender, origin and socio-economic background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For instance, applying the intersectional approach involves not only the analysis of the inequalities suffered by women in general, but <strong>it considers other factors such as disabilities and\/or minorities\u2026<\/strong> The intersectional approach objective is to <strong>broaden the perspective and to have more comprehensive analyses<\/strong> tailored to the realities of the most vulnerable social groups in order to propose appropriate and relevant responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other main beneficiaries of the project are <strong>teachers and educational actors from different educational stages<\/strong> (from pre-school to secondary school).
