\u201cInternationalisation at Home\u201d (IaH) sounds like a paradoxical expression at first sight, as one would assume that more internationalisation is synonymous with more travel abroad. However, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have realised some time ago that internationalisation can and should take place also at their home universities in order to reach ALL students \u2013 and not only those able to spend study time abroad. IaH in this sense means that international, intercultural and global dimensions are integrated purposefully in HEIs, in the curricula, in research activities and in informal activities on and around the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The INTERBA project aims at strengthening international dimensions of its Western Balkan partner HEIs by creating an expert network and exchanging knowledge derived from past international project. To do so, each university from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo, supported by the EU partner universities, has proposed topics and prepared pilot trainings that were delivered to their peers in a three-days meeting. CESIE hosted this meeting from 18-20 July in Palermo, which was attended by representatives from all project partners. European University of Tirana, University of Tuzla and Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar each presented two pilot trainings, which they had developed using the SCATE methodology introduced during the Train the Trainers meeting in London in February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The presented topics were quite diverse, and included among others: \u201cThe impact of COVID-19 on Students with Disabilities\u201d, \u201cIT Governance in higher education\u201d and \u201cDidactics, curriculum development and curriculum design\u201d. Moreover, two external stakeholders, University of Palermo and Vilnius Tech, presented their know-how and expanded the horizon of INTERBA partners on the development of better strategies for internationalisation at home. Next steps are train the trainers activities at home and development of local tools for each partner institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
