{"id":108716,"date":"2022-05-30T08:36:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T06:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?p=108716"},"modified":"2025-07-31T12:36:38","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T10:36:38","slug":"introducing-the-new-largo-alla-scuola-pedestrian-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/youth\/introducing-the-new-largo-alla-scuola-pedestrian-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing the new &#8216;Largo alla Scuola&#8217; pedestrian area"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new pedestrian area of \u200b\u200bthe Istituto Finocchiaro Aprile, co-designed and co-built together with the students of the school, was inaugurated on 25<sup>th<\/sup> &nbsp;May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a <a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/news\/municipality-approves-pedestrianization-new-phase-of-the-co-creation-process-begins\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">participatory planning process<\/a> that lasted about two years, the new student square was inaugurated to the public. The <a href=\"http:\/\/tacticalurbanismguide.com\/about\/#:~:text=Tactical%20Urbanism%20is%20all%20about,to%20catalyze%20long%2Dterm%20change.\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Tactical Urbanism<\/a> intervention was dedicated to Fabrizio Mangione, former head of the institute who died prematurely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event saw the participation of the Mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando and the councilor Giusto Catania, as well as the local organizations that participated in the process: Tu Sei La Citt\u00e0 and PUSH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The students took the floor and told what this experience meant for them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"This project formed us as people, it made us open our eyes, it made us understand the importance of taking care of our city and the environment in which we live\". -
