{"id":103061,"date":"2022-03-23T19:33:04","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T17:33:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?p=103061"},"modified":"2022-03-28T11:37:58","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T09:37:58","slug":"the-game-initiative-morethanajob","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/news\/the-game-initiative-morethanajob\/","title":{"rendered":"Discover The Game: one of the initiatives co-funded by MoreThanAJob"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Increasing the level of social and labour inclusion of people with a migrant background by strengthening the collaboration between public and private actors in order to enhance social and welfare services for them: this is the main aim of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thegameorientationtothefuture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><strong>The Game \u2013 Orientation to the Future<\/strong><\/a><strong>, <\/strong>one of the two local initiatives sub-granted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enicbcmed.eu\/projects\/morethanajob\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">MoreThanAJob<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To do achieve it, the project provides activities aimed at activating an orientation path to employment and services offered in the territory to promote the autonomy of migrant communities in Palermo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A <strong>peer-to-peer orientation desk to employment and services<\/strong> in different places of the city<\/li><li><strong>Italian language workshops<\/strong> with a focus on vocabulary relevant for the labour market<\/li><li><strong>Employment orientation<\/strong> workshops<\/li><li>Promotional events to communicate the services offered by the project as well as to foster dialogue among participants<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is going on and some of the activities already started, in particular the peer-to-peer desk. We talked about it with Marzia Campione, project manager of <a href=\"https:\/\/peresempionlus.org\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Per Esempio<\/strong><\/a>, the organization coordinating the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What impact is the desk having on the territory?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The desk is the core of the whole project. I believe that one of the most important aspects is the tendency to <strong>break a narrative<\/strong>, very present in our society, of migrants being relegated mainly to a certain type of job.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>It is a message that passes through the involvement of counsellors with a migratory background. This also gives the possibility to those who access it as users to imagine themselves in a different context than the usually told one. &nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Moreover, the desk gives the opportunity <strong>to get to know other realities and services that the city offers<\/strong>. The location of the desk in different points of the city gives the possibility to know the realities that are around it.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the main requests?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Mainly, requests related to career guidance and employment support, such as on how to write a CV or to create an e-mail.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>And, then, the orientation to services and, in particular, support in filling in documentation, in knowing what are the different steps to do so or the offices to which deliver it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the experience of the peer-to-peer counselors?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Moussa and Karidja \u2013 i.e., the peer-to-peer counselors \u2013 really believe in the service they are offering: being able to help other people is very important to them.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I believe that <strong>an added value of the desk is just their way of approaching people<\/strong>, their proactivity in trying to support the people who access it as best as they can. And this makes the difference in the relationship with them.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do you think is the added value in collaborating with the public administration?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>The possibility of creating a network<\/strong> and reaching a wider range of people.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>For example, the collaboration with Casa dei Diritti allowed us to reach people who were then able to use the desk counters in other parts of the city.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>This is just one of the reasons why creating networks is fundamental. Often people don't know what are the services and opportunities offered in their territory.
