How to promote a safer and more inclusive environment for all children in sports? This was the main question discussed during the last events of the ACTIVE<\/a><\/strong> project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of World Children's Day<\/strong> (20th<\/sup> November), CESIE organised a workshop for children<\/strong> to raise awareness of their rights<\/strong> and promote the values of sport<\/strong>. Thanks to recreational and sports activities (in particular, children got a taste of capoeira, a martial art that combines acrobatics and dance), participants had the opportunity to reflect on the importance of respecting the rights of others and advocating for their own rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The issue of violence in sports was central to the national event<\/strong> organised on November 20. The event was attended by representatives of sports organisations, families and students of the faculty of sports science of the University of Brescia and it was the occasion to discuss what coaches and parents can do to counter violence against children in sports and leisure activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, on the 23rd of November, KMOP organised the final conference <\/strong>of the project. The event brought together experts from the fields of sports and politics, as well as representatives from international organizations, such as the International Basketball Federation (FIBA)<\/strong>, UEFA Foundation for Children<\/strong> and UNICEF Greece<\/strong>, to discuss how sports organisations can develop child safeguarding policies and procedures and to present the resources and tools available for this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

ACTIVE \u2013 Focus on children; Strenghtening Policies in Sports and Leisure ACTIVitiEs<\/a> is a two years project founded by the European Commission Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020). ACTIVE aims at establishing safer environments for children by developing an online self-assessment tool, allowing sports and leisure clubs to identify and address gaps in terms of implementation of Child Protection Polices in their premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
