Aim of the contest<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Art and act<\/em> is an artistic contest, organised by CESIE, inspired by the beliefs and passions of Marie Marzloff (02\/11\/1980 -13\/02\/2018).<\/p>\n

Marie Marzloff<\/strong> was the vice director of CESIE. She was responsible for managing human resources and international cooperation. She came to Palermo in 2004 as part of the European Voluntary Service scheme and immediately became one of the most active supporters and advocates of CESIE\u2019s mission and work.<\/p>\n

This contest sets to celebrate her interest in art, literature and interculturality - and devotion to the causes closest to her - gender equality, intercultural dialogue and international cooperation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It aims at advancing the work that Marie has started so as to enable her beliefs and passions to endure.<\/p>\n

By the means of this contest we seek to inspire others with Marie\u2019s curiosity and her ability to grasp different ideas from diverse realities.<\/p>\n

Whoever had the chance to work with Marie lived an enormously enriching learning experience, which allowed them to open up new horizons. She gave sound advice that squashed any doubts as she would help express hidden solutions and ideas.<\/p>\n

Marie was the energy, the motor and the heart of CESIE.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Opening windows onto community<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>

2020 has globally redefined our common lives as we have been forced to reconceive them both in terms of time and space, leading us to a profound reflection on the social changes which will follow. Windows have become our real and metaphorical vantage points from which we observe our world and the new scenarios awaiting our local and global communities.<\/em><\/p>\n

As crisis exacerbates inequalities, new perspectives on dialogue and cooperation are emerging just when they seem more necessary than ever. We have learnt to observe the world from a distance, while we also got closer to ourselves by practicing a mindful introspection.\u00a0 Living-without-others allows us to reflect on the sense of our community and challenges us to keep building and finding new identities and meanings.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIn between a dimmed present and \u2013 hopefully \u2013 a transparent future, this artwork is an attempt to rethink a place of encounters and relationships: in an interplay of direct lights and reflections we shaped movements, borders and shadows hiding the most crystalline and authentic humanity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\u201cIn each of us there are measures where revive places that surround and overwhelm us. These are shapes, that change with the changing of the state of our soul, emotions and testify implacable correlations between our subjectivity and the world where we reflect and live in. An intimate space rich in multiple symbolic meanings that it\u2019s a reflection of our psychic identity\u201d.<\/span><\/i><\/u><\/u><\/i><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
