How to build on multi-angle integrated capacities of teachers and social workers\u00a0 dealing with NEET focusing on learning, living and working?<\/h2>\n

In the European Union in 2011 there were 94 million young people between 15 and 29 years old - 66% of them were in employment while the rest were considered as NEETs. For Eurostat it is the worse statistic ever registered in the EU. Employment policy and Youth Policy must first address this fact[1]<\/a>.\u00a0The European Commission reacted with the Program \u201cYouth on the Move\u201d which is part of the Strategy 2020 and the Initiative for Youth Employment[2]<\/a>\u00a0In line with Europe 2020 growth strategy<\/em> [3]<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and the European Employment Strategy[4]<\/strong><\/a><\/em> - adopted by EU leaders in June 2010, <\/em>there is the need for a multi-angle integrated focus on the disadvantaged youngster at risk of educational and societal drop-out.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Partners of LION \u2013 Learning, lIving, wOrking for Neet-group<\/a> recognize and stress the need of a multi-angle integrated focus on the disadvantaged youngsters at risk of educational and societal drop-out, the so-called NEET-group (not in education, employment, or training).\u00a0The word \u201cNEET\u201d was first used in the United Kingdom<\/a> but its use has spread all over the world. It comprises young people between 16 and 24, drop-outs from the educational system, socially excluded and jobless. They often accumulate a wide range of social difficulties[5]<\/a>.\u00a0For educational institutions, enterprises and housing associations this means a complete turnaround in thinking. No longer own processes and interest are enough to deal with the target group, but network-based activities address the needs of the NEET-group, improving their competencies and skills in an integrated approach.\u00a0The partners are very much aware of the needs in the field of second chance education for young adults at risk by their own experience, their participation in regional, national and European networks and their contacts with peers in the field.<\/p>\n

HOLISTIC APPROACH<\/h3>\n

The LION-study was trying to answer the needs of the professionals and institutions in the field, working with this specific target group. This promotes and enhances the quality of the professionals and organisations working in the triangle of learning, living and working:<\/p>\n

The triangle\u2019s objectives:<\/p>\n

  1. LEARNING (education):<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    - To organise and give access to knowledge and best practices (organisation of training, symposia and knowledge exchange on a regional, interregional and multinational level);
    \n- To execute Mobile Training Team sessions to upgrade skills and competencies of all professionals working with the target group all over Europe;
    \n- To give support and assistance in building up a network of regional centres of excellence;<\/p>\n

    1. LIVING (inclusion and integration):
      \n- To organise support of local and regional decision makers for the promotion of social inclusion and gender equality;
      \n- To organise the cooperation with (social)housing companies in order to set up an \u201call inclusive\u201d system of guidance and coaching.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. WORKING (vocational training, labour market integration)
        \n- To improve skills and competencies to address, contact and keep up relations with entrepreneurs and enterprises;
        \n- To strengthen the relation between and with enterprises;
        \n- To organise the exchange of experience and knowledge of apprentices and teachers between companies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
