{"id":168055,"date":"2026-06-24T10:20:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T08:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?post_type=mec-events&#038;p=168055"},"modified":"2026-06-24T10:20:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T08:20:32","slug":"bottomuptalks-bodies-emancipation-stories-freedom","status":"publish","type":"mec-events","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/events\/bottomuptalks-bodies-emancipation-stories-freedom\/","title":{"rendered":"Behind the pages and screen \u2013 Two evening reflections about bodies, emancipation stories, and freedom to exist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Cinema, literature and activism meet at BOOQ to explore the frontiers of representation and contemporary rights<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Monday 6 and Wednesday 8 July 2026, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booqpa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><strong>BOOQ Palermo<\/strong><\/a> community space will host two community events dedicated to reflection, listening, and dialogue on issues related to rights, identities, and the representation of bodies in contemporary society.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through the visual power of cinema and the expressive force of literature, <a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/bottomuptalks\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><strong>Bottom-up talks<\/strong><\/a> sets out two key steps towards redefining our perception of bodies and deconstructing the dominant narratives of today\u2019s society.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Monday 6 July, 20:00 | Body as political space: film screening and debate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first event will feature visual storytelling on women\u2019s and gender emancipation. From 8.00 pm, we will welcome you with the screening of the documentary <strong><em>Il corpo \u00e8 di tutte <\/em><\/strong>(<em>The Body Belongs to Everyone<\/em>), with directors Mapi Rizzo and Martina Riina in attendance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A story that explores experiences, rights and representations of the body in contemporary Palermo society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wednesday 8 July, 17:30 | Identity with no labels and transitional poetics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second event, on Wednesday 8 July, will take the form of a participatory workshop on identities without labels, promoted by CESIE ETS and <a href=\"https:\/\/associazionehandala.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Handala<\/a>, followed by the presentation of the book <em>Trans.
