LeGMe – Learning to be a Good Mentor

Home » Projects » Adult » LeGMe – Learning to be a Good Mentor

Objectives

  • To provide opportunities for adults to learn while making a useful contribution to the community’s welfare, by supporting young children’s school integration and academic success
  • To provide opportunities for mentors to share experiences and practices from their respective countries and work together with European colleagues to prepare to support young children
  • To provide opportunities for mentors’ coaches to share experiences and practices of supporting mentors from their respective countries and work together with European colleagues to improve their coaching practices
  • To create a coaching program(s) for mentors

Activities

  • Collect existing mentoring programs for disenfranchised young children and youth, and analyse mentors’ training/coaching program
  • Develop the common frame and guidelines for building mentors’ coaching programs
  • Develop the coaching program in each partner organization, by filling the frame, observing the guidelines to obtain relevant coaching programs for the category of mentors available in each organization
  • Test the mentors’ coaching programs, with on-going monitoring and evaluation of the coaching programs and e-learning support
  • Based on evaluation results, revise and finalise each organisations’ specific mentor coaching program

Results

  • Guidelines for mentors and mentoring programme coordinators. The guidebook is structured around three major chapters, and is conceived as an interactive tool. We share questions that our partnership has considered carefully while developing the various mentoring programmes, as well as reminders of details and – wherever we can – practices that we have found effective
