Cooperazione ItalianaThe CESIE – European Centre of Studies and Initiatives looks faithfully at the establishment within the new Italian Government of the Ministry of Integration and International Cooperation assigned to Andrea Riccardi.

We believe the choice made by our new Prime Minister Mario Monti is an important sign that we hope will be transposed in an active involvement and a new input for international cooperation, in these years marginalized by politics.

The establishment of such a specific ministry represents an important change within the Italian institutional landscape. We hope this choice might start a new season, reaffirming the dialogue between third sector and political – institutional world, with an aim to value the Italian role in the settings on international cooperation.

In spite of the financial crisis and resources cut that weakened the sector during the last years, the Italian cooperation world continued to guarantee qualitative and innovative standards, recognizing the strategic and non – marginal role on an international level.

Today, for the first time, thanks to the commitment of the Italian associations and NGOs, politics for international cooperation and migration take their main role in the public debate one more time, for the development of a more focused on global issues perspective .
