After the success of the previous creative workshops of CHIMES, the project offers one last opportunity for young people to take part in the next Creative Dance Workshop, at the end of which only one participant will be given the opportunity to fly to Portugal and experience different creative disciplines in an international context. Do not miss this opportunity and discover how the art of dance can allow you to develop useful personal and professional skills!
Dance, like any art form, has in itself an important educational component enhancing all those skills that are often taken for granted and that instead contribute to make us independent individuals and active citizens, while overcoming differences and teaching the importance of respecting oneself and others.
CESIE is looking for young people (aged from 15 to 30) eager to experiment and develop their soft skills (self-confidence, relational and social skills, flexibility, teamwork, creative and critical thinking, etc.), which are highly appreciated and indispensable both at a personal, academic and professional level, to propose them a dance workshop that embraces the principles of movement education through which to interpret the theme of social inclusion and give voice to their identity in a post-pandemic scenario that still suffers from the effects of isolation, both on physical and emotional level.
The idea is to invite young people to create in a collaborative way an artistic narration of their emotional experience, especially in relation to their pandemic experience, exploiting the potential of body language as a means of expression and communication between peers.
If you a 15-30-years-old youngster and want to test your creativity, develop or improve your skills and try yourself in the artistic representation of an important social issue such as the inclusion and well-being of young people, CHIMES invites you to participate in the second creative dance workshop in order to take part in the collective reflection and give it a body and soul with other young people. At the end of the workshop, a final exhibition will be organized to widespread the voice of young people and to show the (not only) technical skills acquired.
In addition, a participant will be offered the opportunity to take part in a 5-day creative event in Portugal during the first weeks of November (more details will be communicated later). The selection criteria for participating in the event in Portugal allow all participants (including those from previously organised workshops) to apply by means of a motivation letter. The selection will also take into account the path of the candidate, as well as the possession of a few prerequisites:
- have reached the age of majority
- have a valid and appropriate travel documentation (identity card/passport, valid residence permit for expatriation, etc.)
The face-to-face workshop will be held between September and October 2022 in Palermo, within the beautiful context offered by the public garden of Villa Giulia. The course will be available in Italian and English and includes 8 meetings of 90 minutes each (16.30 – 18.00), twice a week, according to this calendar: 27 and 30 (September), 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 October.
To apply, fill in this form by September, 25.
