CESIE is involved in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme through the project  StartUp – Start run and grow your business and supports new and experienced entrepreneurs in their entrepreneurial journey.

Our New Entrepreneur Emiliano Sborgia from Italy has been involved in the exchange with the HE Jose Manuel Sabina of ESESE Architects, from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The exchange of experience allowed Emiliano to increase his competences, establish international contacts and acquire skills needed to run a small business in Europe.

CESIE is talking to Emiliano about his 5-months exchange experience in Tenerife:

How did you discover Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme?

E: I discovered this program through a friend of mine and I decided to try this experience in order to have a great opportunity to work in architecture studio abroad, to learn how to get in touch with other professionals and to learn another language.

The idea for both (me and my host entrepreneur) was to create a good relationship for the future, to create a network of professionals, establish a partnership with other offices. I really wanted to learn how architects abroad are running their studios, to improve my skills, to learn about new project’s and get inspiration from another culture.

In what type of activities you were involved?

E: We started the collaboration with some small projects, to see how we can work together. My first work was to design a residential building in La Laguna, in the neighbourhood of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.  After I participated in an Architectural Competition about renovation and redesign of a part of the Real Club Nautico de Tenerife.

In the second half of the exchange, I started to work on an International project, in collaboration with other Engineering offices (from Abu Dhabi and from Madrid). It’s an ongoing project to design and build a Veterinary Reference Laboratory in Abu Dhabi.

After those 5 successful months of Erasmus for Young Entrepreneur experience, we (me and my host) decided to continue the collaboration, so I’m still working on this Veterinary Laboratory project.

How would you describe the benefits that the programme brought you?

E: Thanks to Erasmus for Young Entrepreneur experience, after the exchange we are still working together!

In this experience I was learning many things as well as a new language. For me it is a really good experience that allowed me to improve my skills and to learn how to manage a project with other companies.

Could you briefly describe your experience?

E: Really good experience! A nice and friendly office. Good place and good place to live and spent my exchange, to discovery the Island and landscapes.
