Policies for sustainable urban development: meeting CoNet in Palermo

CoNetBy the 25th and 26th November will be held in Palermo the last CoNet meeting with the presence of representatives of the partner cities and their Managing Authorities – URBACT II (October 2008 – April 2011).

During the meeting the international partners will visit different local realities in Palermo: Libera, Ubuntu, Centro Astalli, Centro Tau.

The overall objective of the project is to promote sustainable and integrated urban development policies across Europe. Urban areas must face the poverty and integration problem management. These are at the same time the engine of the European economy and, in particular, of the new knowledge-based sectors. The exchange of experiences between cities within the URBACT II Programme, helps to accelerate the process of innovation policy in every city.


ISPAW project, third meeting in Romania

Ispaw meetingFrom 21 to 23 October in Calarasi, Romania was held the third meeting within ISPAW project in the headquarter of partner from Romania – ASSOCIATION FOR EDUCATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

There was made an interim evaluation of adoption of good practice in work with the homeless that has been launched during the previous meeting in Rzeszow, Poland.

The partners had also opportunity to visit the shelter that was opened recently in one of the neighbourhood of Calarasi that was funded by municipality and the World Bank with objective to ameliorate welcoming and assisting the Roma communityand other disadvantaged groups in this neighbourhood of the city of Calarasi.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 2011 and will be held in Palermo.

The main objective is to find out how to ameliorate the modalities of accompaniment and accommodation.


Forum “Building together a society for all – A circus against exclusion”

Stand CESIECESIE, as a member of the stakeholders group the 2010 European Year of Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, has actively participated in the Forum and has had the opportunity to be part with a stand with information along with other international organisations such as EUROCITIES, UNDP, European Youth Forum and other DGs such as the European Commission DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and DG Research.

The meeting has been held in Halles de Schaerbeek, Brussels 19-20 October 2010.

Other activities organised were: 20 workshops on issues of combating social exclusion, and exchange of innovative methods and best practices aimed at different target groups: immigrants, youth, disabled, women, etc; performances of different social circus, with the participation of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds of all Europe; video projections on poverty in Europe made during the EU Year 2010.


E-NEEDD: final conference

e-needd meetingWith the Istanbul meeting of the 5th November took place the final conference of the E-NEEDD, Comenius Multilateral at Bahcehesir University.

E-NEEDD developed a comparative study among the participating partner countries (Uned, UHM, FECC.OO from Spain, Universidade Aberta, Universidade Catolica de Braga from Portugal, Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi (USGM) and Centro Studi e Iniziative Europeo (CESIE) from Italy, Colegiul National “Fratii Buzesti” and “Petre Andrei” of Iasi University from Romania and the University of Bahcesehir from Turkey) regarding preventive interventions as well as the identification and dissemination of the best practices, creating an early detection scale about drug-consumption, drawing up and evaluating a training program in relation to prevention and counselling regarding drug-consumption addressed to secondary school teachers and designing a web site for the diffusion of the contents related to the project.


PARADISE CITY: intercultural youth project in Berlin

Paradise 2010PARADISE CITY is an intercultural youth project for 25 young european people. The project is dedicated to the “European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion”.

The project theme is Paradise. PARADISE CITY multiplies and further develops the activities of the previous project called PARADISE 2010 and unites all the results into a shared intercultural final media exhibition.

The young people of PARADISE CITY stage public places in their hometowns together with local inhabitants. As a medium they make use of the logo PARADISE made out of a multicoloured 3D material.
