The Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission, action 4.3, aims at supporting youth workers’ mobility and exchange, with a view to promoting the acquisition of new skills and competences in order to enrich their professional profile.

My name is Letizia and, after having done an internship at CESIE (European Centre of Studies and Initiatives), I had the chance to take part to YiA, action 4.3, by doing a 6-month foreign work experience at PISTES SOLIDAIRES, an organisation located in Marseille (France), working in the field of European cooperation.

I moved to Marseille on January 19th 2012. Pistes Solidaires’office is located in one of the main streets of Marseille (La Canebière) and as I arrived I found a  very welcoming environment.

My main task was writing proposals under several European programmes such as Youth in Action, Europe for citizens, Leonardo, etc. It was a very good training and day by day I realised that my knowledge about several aspects of project management was increasing.

At the same time, I was involved in the hosting of youth exchanges thus been totally involved in the life of the organisation and in an international dimension.

Moreover, I worked on some financial aspects related to budgeting and accounting thus receiving a very comprehensive training.

Last but not least, I developed some ICT competences especially on video editing (something brand new for me!!). And if you want, have a look at this link http://youtu.be/wrpUsimNNzA : you will find a promotional/information video about senior volunteering developed by myself! Great, isn’t?!

The environment at the office was always friendly and amazing and a lot of memories are fixed in my mind!

I can state without any doubt that my mobility experience in Marseille was the most significant professional experience I’ve made in my life so far!

Or at least, the best one before…starting to work at CESIE!

Yes, because after Marseille’s experience I received a job offer from my sending organisation!

So..the perfect ending of my work mobility experience thanks to the Youth in Action Programme!
