The European Voluntary Service helps young people  travel abroad to participate in volunteering projects working in a non-profit organisation.

CESIE gives the opportunity to 1 Italian young people to go to Kenya and to 1 Italian young people from 18 to 30 years to go to Vietnam for 6 months from January 2017.

This mobility experience is foreseen within MPV- Moving People in Volunteering (Erasmus +, Key Action 2, Capacity building in the field of Youth) that aims at building on the exchange of experience and best practices regards the volunteers’ handling at each organization. The project offers innovative tools and methods for youth work focused on development of knowledge and competences on how to involve and empower youngsters with fewer opportunities through volunteering.

After the international training course that took place in Palermo in September the project allows to 12 young people coming from France, Kenya, Vietnam, Italy, Nepal and Hungary to take part in this type of international mobility.

EVS in Kenya:

  • The volunteer will work in the local association VACK (Nairobi) and will support other activities in villages
  • The volunteer will be flexible, he/she has to adapt to the new context and cultures
  • The volunteer will organise training activities and sport activities for children of the local school
  • The volunteer will live in host family
  • The volunteer will have a good level of English
  • The volunteer will organise 3 local workshops (one every two months) involving disadvantaged young people focused on the following topics:
    • Volunteering as a mean of empowerment and social inclusion
    • Understanding diversity and promoting intercultural dialogue
    • Encourage young people participation in the democratic process and in society

EVS in Vietnam:

  • The volunteer will organise activities in Ha Dong city (20 km from Hanoi)
  • The volunteer will have a good level of English
  • The volunteer will organise English lesson to students from medical college and to children
  • The volunteer will live in host family
  • The volunteer will organise 3 local workshops (one every two months) involving disadvantaged young people focused on the following topics:
    • Volunteering as a mean of empowerment and social inclusion
    • Understanding diversity and promoting intercultural dialogue
    • Encourage young people participation in the democratic process and in society

Costs covered by the project

The project covers food, accommodation, local transport expenses, VISA (up to 200 euro), vaccination (up to 150 euro) and medical insurance; moreover every month the volunteer will receive a pocket money for additional personal expenses. The travel costs (from/to Italy) will be covered up to 820 euro for Kenya and up to 1100 euro for Vietnam. At the beginning of the mobility, volunteer will follow a local language course.
