APQ

The APQ: “Young protagonists of themselves and of the territory” is an instrument of integrated planning through which the Sicilian Region in consultation with the Youth Department – Presidency of the Council of Ministers and with the Ministry of Economic Development intend to put young people in the centre of attention, starting in the territory a cultural change which appreciate the potential and the role of the youth as active and necessary subjects in the development of Sicily.

The main purpose of APQ is therefore to appreciate the already existing positive experiences and to identify priority areas, to destine the financings and to concretise new actions and interventions bringing back in the meantime the youth policy within the territorial planning undertaken by the law 328/00 so as to foster the sense of belonging in their own context of life and make the youth participate in the local political process:

• Promotion of youth creativity to foster a major social protagonism increasing the supply of opportunities to grow individually or in group and the active participation in cultural, recreational activities, in social solidarity actions, sometimes strengthen the knowledge, competence and youth ability heritage.
• Promotion of healthy lifestyle and positive models of behaviour on the one hand from the strengthening of sport activities and education to the enhancement of environmental and cultural resources of the territory, on the other hand raising the awareness of the youth to the risks deriving from the consumption of drogs, alcohol or disorders of nutrition.
• Promotion of the culture of welcome and of the multiculturalism to foster dialogue and integration among young people coming from different places in the light of interculturalism, cooperation, solidarity and mutual respect.
